FIRST-TIME BOARDERS’ INFORMATION

Thank you for choosing Carlgren Retriever Kennel to board your dog. We know it will be a pleasant experience for both you and your dog. You can trust us to care for your dog like we would one of our own. In order to ensure that your dog gets the best care, however, we need you to review and adhere to the guidelines listed below. These guidelines were written with the safety and comfort of your pet in mind, but if you have any questions or suggestions, please feel free to let us know or fill out our customer satisfaction survey.

bulletAll dogs must have current vaccination records from your veterinarian. Please bring a copy of their vaccination records for current rabies, annual booster, and kennel cough each time you board your pet. It is your responsibility to make sure these stay current whenever you are boarding your dog.
bulletWe feed Purina Pro-Plan Performance, Adult, or Puppy dog food once a day. You can bring your dog’s specific food from home if you’d like and we will feed it. If your dog needs a different feeding schedule than once a day in the evenings, just let us know when you check your dog in and we will feed accordingly.
bulletThe kennels are 4' by 5' inside and the covered outdoor portion of the kennel is 4’ by 12’.
bulletThe kennels are separated by chain link so that they have the opportunity to see their neighbor next to them. We find that this helps the dogs feel more comfortable than a kennel situation where they are completely isolated.
bulletWe supply cedar shaving chips for bedding for your dog, but if you would like to bring your dog’s bed, please do so. Likewise if your dog has any special toys that may make their stay more comfortable, bring those as well.
bulletWe turn on the heaters in the indoor portion of the kennels during the cold or cooler portions of the year. If your dog needs a kennel that is more or less heated, please let us know.
bulletThe cost of boarding your dog is $15.00 a day. That includes feeding and the general care for your pet.
bulletIf you’d like your dog to have supervised exercise twice a day for approximately 15 minutes per session, the cost is $5.00/day. We have one fenced acre with a shallow pond for your dog to frolic & play. After your dog is accustomed to the facilities, we usually try to let at least two dogs out at the same time so that they can play together. However we realize that not all dogs are at the same social level, so let us know if your dog needs to be exercised separately.
bulletAll pick-ups and drop-offs are by appointment only. We ask that you schedule your appointment at least one day in advance and during the following times:

Monday - Friday: 7:30-8:30 am or 4:00-5:00 pm           Saturday & Sunday: 3:00-5:00 pm

We try to reserve all other times for training, exercising, and caring for the dogs. Alternate times for appointments may be arranged for a non-business hour fee of $25.00.

bulletAt times we train the field trial and gun dogs at other locations, though most of the time we are training onsite. Sometimes it is difficult to interrupt the training to get to the phone, so please don’t hesitate to leave a message. We will return your call as soon as possible.
bulletObedience, field trial, and gun dog training is available. If you are interested, please speak to Chris Carlgren regarding training.
bulletWe hope that your dog’s stay at Carlgren Retriever Kennel and your experience with us is as pleasant and comfortable as possible. Please feel free to call 503-650-0023 if you have any other questions.
